This course examines the development and transformation of religion. What is the past, present, and future of religion? How does religion help constitute to global politics and society? Drawing on original essays and classic readings this course explores social scientific views on religion and its contribution to major global issues. The purpose of the course is to introduced broad debates regarding religion and global issues that will enable students to analyze, discuss, and make their own judgments about religion in the contemporary world.
